Hair Regeneration Project
We propagate hair papillar cells which are the key element in hair growth and develop therapies that enable the implantation of these cells on patients thus regenerating the ability of the patient’s scalp to produce hair naturally.
Hair Regeneration Therapy based on Autogenous Transplantation of Papillar Cells
Hair Follicle StructureThe Image on the left is a cross section of the hair follicle. The hair shaft grows from the hair follicle consisting of transformed skin tissue. The two main types of cell forming the hair shaft are the epidermal and the dermal cells. The epidermal cells transform at the command of the dermal papilla cells and generate the hair shaft.
Utilizing this ability of the dermal papilla cell to manage hair generation it is possible to regenerate hair by cultivating the cells in a Petri dish and transplanting them under the skin. The photo above shows induced hairs from engrafted dermal papilla cells and rat skin at back of a nude mouse.
